My mission as an orthopaedic spine surgeon is to help people transform their lives by successfully treating their spinal problems.
“I’m entirely focused on
giving people their lives back”
A spinal condition can impact your day-to-day life in a myriad of painful and debilitating ways that take a toll on you.
A specialist spine surgeon needs a high level of technical expertise and a passion for helping patients get the most out of life. I offer expertise and understanding to help you navigate a stressful and difficult period and reclaim your quality of life.
I undertake the comprehensive assessment and treatment of:
Utilising the latest spinal technologies:
All patients welcome:
I work closely with patients and their families so that we can come to a shared decision about the best course of treatment. In the majority of patients, surgery is not even necessary. However when it is required, spine surgery can be truly life-changing.
Trust is an essential ingredient of medicine. If you’re putting your trust in my hands, you might want to know a bit more about me…
I was born and raised in New Zealand. I was dux of my high school and then pursued a career in medicine. I graduated from The University of Auckland in 1999, with a Bachelor of Human Biology, and again in 2002, with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery.
After completing my orthopaedic training, I became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011. Having developed a special interest in spine surgery, I relocated to the Gold Coast with my family in 2012 and completed the Allamanda Private Hospital Spinal Fellowship, under the supervision of Associate Professor Mathew Scott-Young. This is an Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited fellowship in spine surgery. I then joined Gold Coast Spine, before starting my own practice in 2020.
I am an Assistant Professor with Bond University’s faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, and am actively involved in ongoing research aimed at improving the outcomes of spine surgery. I am also a member of the Spine Society of Australia, the North American Spine Society, and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. Finally, it’s worth noting that I am a Certified Independent Medical Examiner.
I see patients in my rooms at Pacific Private Clinic in Southport and operate at both Pindara Private Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital.
Now that you know about me…
Let’s talk about how I can help you renew your quality of life.
